It takes a village to raise a child is a proverb which means that it takes an entire community of different people interacting with children in order for children to experience and grow in a safe environment.

There are many things that we just don't have much control over. But like eating good food, building community; Embracing, Educating and Empowering, is something that you can do, right here, right now, in the place where you are now -- whether or not you have a job, an education, or a car. Be the first one in your community to reach out to others. Find a new sense of purpose and life on your street and learn the benefits of sharing without shame. Bring your county together as we "walk a mile in your shoes" and light candles when we remember during International Overdose Awareness Day. Become part of the solution, not part of a "problem."

Make your neighborhood your OhioCAN village and find the truth that we have learned the hard way. United we stand, divided we fall -- Unity is as important!!. Maybe, at certain times and places, it's the most important.

You start building a "ME, too, neighborhood when you yourself decide that you will be the ONE to lead the way.

It does take a village, to work with the family, to raise a child and weather the storms of life.

If we want that kind of support, without shame and stigma, the place to begin is with

ourselves. Community, like charity, begins at home. You start building a good

neighborhood when you yourself decide that you will be a good neighbor. If you don't

know anyone in your village, you can take the initiative.  You can join and become part of

our community. You can reach out to your own network and start building an OhioCAN community.
