Vikie is married and the mother of two wonderful children, one celebrating four years in recovery from substance use. She received her college degree in Education, Vocational education and Home Economics. She retired after 32 years of teaching young adults how to drive.
Vickie continues to advocate on behalf of her son's personal journey and road to recovery and for all those sharing his journey.
Summit county continues to host the Steps of Change event in May and also the Lights of Change event held on Overdose Awareness Day. This annual event is held the third Saturday in May in Cuyahoga Falls.
Summa Hospitals in Summit county will be assisting with the YouCAN2 bags being given to those seeking recovery following an overdose. Along with the information the bags will have chocolate, hard candy, a stress ball, chapstick, tissues notebook and pen. Additional donations of season appropriate items. such as blankets, hats and gloves are also being discussed.
Summit County Opiate Task Force is organizing a new group looking to specifically help the families of those suffering from substance use disorder. OhioCAN Summit will be involved bringing the family voice.
